Carla Harper

Carla Harper is senior vice president of human resources for Core & Main, a leading specialized distributor with a focus on water, wastewater, storm drainage and fire protection products, and related services. Harper leads Core & Main’s human resources strategy to support the company’s accelerated growth and strategic direction as well as the needs and aspirations of its associates nationwide. As part of Core & Main’s continued growth strategy, she is focused on building a human resources function that drives leadership development and associate learning, while prioritizing a performance with-purpose culture that makes Core & Main a great place to work.

Harper oversees the Core & Main talent attraction, retention, and people initiatives, including people integration for acquisitions, with a focus on optimizing culture and talent in a competitive landscape. With more than 25 years of experience in human resources, organizational development and talent management, Harper has continuously prioritized the creation of cultures that optimize associate engagement and empower top performance.

Harper joined the company as senior manager of human resources in 2017 holding positions of increased responsibility with a promotion to vice president in 2024. Previously, Harper spent more than a decade with HD Supply, where she held roles in human resources supporting divisional and enterprise-wide initiatives, receiving multiple human resources leadership awards.

Harper holds an MBA from Jack Welch Management Institute and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She is a certified Zenger Folkman and Lominger 360 coach and a member of the Society of Human Resource Management. She is an executive sponsor for the Women’s Network, which serves the professional development of Core & Main women and the broader industry.
